Beta

Private beta · friends and family

Try Garden with real records.

Garden is local-first personal finance software for keeping a ledger, importing statements, categorising transactions, setting rules, and producing documents. It turns the financial records you already have into something you can use.

This is a private friends-and-family beta. Rough edges and importer failures are expected; your reports help find them before 1.0.

What is not in this build

Beta is local-and-import only: there are no bank connections in this build. Import understands CSV, TSV, OFX/QFX, QIF, XLSX, and PDF statements. Files are parsed on your own device.

What to actually try

  1. Import a real statement. Try the export from a bank or budgeting app. A bank export shape the importer has not seen before is the single most valuable bug to find; also watch dates, signs, duplicate rows, headers, and encodings.
  2. Categorise the transactions. Look for merchants, transfers, split transactions, and amounts that need a second look.
  3. Set up a rule. Use a repeated merchant or description and check that later matching transactions stay consistent.
  4. Produce a document. Use your own records and check every generated value before treating the document as ready to send.

What to report, and how

Include the version string from the Settings drawer, what you did, what happened, and what you expected to happen. Send the report to khushin.patel@icloud.com.

Your records stay yours.

For this beta, your ledger and imported statement contents stay on your device. There is no account, and nothing from your ledger is uploaded.
